FROM HADELAND TO LONDON

"Studio Kaape is a Scandinavian rooted interior architecture and design studio in London and Oslo"

Kirsti Prestmarken

Studio Kaape (KP) was founded by the Norwegian interior architect Kirsti Prestmarken

So how did it all come together - There is no wonder that Kirsti has a flair for designing hospitality spaces – She had an early introduction, her father was a hotel director, running a conference hotel at the countryside of Norway, Hadeland. Her childhood years were spent running up and down the corridors and waiting eagerly to grow old enough to be able to take part behind the bar and restaurant. At 13 she got her first job, doing the dishes. She was soon promoted to the reception. As the years went by, she finally convinced the director she was ready for the bar and restaurant, where she had always felt most at home. Fascinated by the hosting experience, social networking and dining etiquette, this also sparked an interest in cuisine and culture.  Travelling has ever since been a constant source of inspiration, and the attraction to new places and spaces with unknown cultures and cuisines shines through in Kirsti’s design language and is part of her signature. Kirsti started studying visual merchandising, interior design and ended up having a BA(Hons) in interior architecture and furniture design from Kunsthøyskolen i Oslo and School of visual Arts in New York. Freshly out of New York she joined the renowned architectural practice Zinc and then IArk , where she altogether worked for 7 years.

Eventually she was brought back to her childhood aspirations, where her heart is and moved her design focus to hospitality. This was the start of Studio Kaape, which was established in 2015. Studio Kaape have since its start focused on building a portfolio within the hospitality sector and high-end residential. Our team co-exists architects, interior architects and designers to supply design and build. Our holistic idea is to challenge each client and provoke each space to evoking individual interiors that last, sustain and are easy to maintain.

“ The newly renovated bar & restaurant design done for Michaels in Oslo is a good example of when great friends becomes business partners and gathering all together expertise, investments and multiple clever design decisions. Welcome to Michaels - stories in food and flavours, people and entertainment ”
